Stop Holding Your Breath

In this blog, Denise Hall invites readers to release the tension of waiting and trust God in the in-between moments. “Stop Holding Your Breath” reminds us that faith is not about bracing for impact—it’s about breathing deeply in God’s promises and living with expectant hope.

MINDFULNESS

Have you ever found yourself spiritually holding your breath—waiting for the next breakthrough, the next answered prayer, the next moment of peace? It’s as if life has pressed pause, and you’re stuck in a season of suspense, unsure whether to hope or brace for disappointment.

But here’s the truth: God never intended for us to live in a state of spiritual breathlessness.

When we hold our breath, we’re often trying to control outcomes. We’re afraid to exhale because we don’t know what’s coming next. Yet Scripture reminds us that faith is not about control—it’s about trust.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” — Psalm 150:6

Breath is a gift. It’s a sign of life, of movement, of trust in the One who sustains us. When we stop breathing spiritually, we stop praising, we stop believing, and we start doubting. But God calls us to inhale His promises and exhale our fears.

What Are You Waiting For?

Maybe you’re waiting for healing. Restoration. Direction. Maybe you’re waiting for God to show up in a situation that feels hopeless. And in the waiting, you’ve grown weary. You’ve tightened your grip. You’ve held your breath.

But God is not absent in the waiting. He’s working in the unseen. He’s strengthening your faith, refining your heart, and preparing the way.

“The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.” — Lamentations 3:25

Breathe Again

Today, I want to encourage you: breathe again. Let go of the tension. Release the fear. Trust that God is still writing your story, even in the silence. You don’t have to hold your breath to brace for impact—you can breathe deeply, knowing that His grace is sufficient and His timing is perfect.

Take a moment right now. Inhale His peace. Exhale your worry.

You’re not forgotten. You’re not stuck. You’re simply being held by the One who knows exactly what you need and when you need it.

So, stop holding your breath. Start living in faith.
